Three years later…

Just under a year ago, I made a post about finding a safe place in the church. The funny thing is, I wrote that piece in a time of reflection. Yet here I am today and not much has changed…

This picture is blurry. This picture is old. This picture shows two little babies who had just taken the step to become members of a new church three years ago.

We are so completely blessed to have found this church just a month after moving to Kirksville. Five months later, we took a step of faith fully believing that God had called us to First Baptist for a reason. Three months after joining, we found out we were pregnant. Coincidence? I think not…

I honestly believe that you don’t have to go to church to be a Christian. We’ve all heard the saying that the building doesn’t make you a believer and it’s true. Walking into church does not automatically save anyone no matter how badly we may wish it did. But, with that being said, I think that a good church is crucial for spiritual growth and it can be a saving grace when it comes to hard times. Being a part of a church where you can serve alongside others rather than simply attend is something I wish everyone could encounter.

Our lives have been changed because of some of the people we have met at this church, and I pray we have done the same for others. I am thankful for a church family who is so willing to pray with us and to love on our son and who continues to be with us.

This year will be full of changes. We don’t know where the Lord will take us. But I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that these people will continue to be vital to us, even if the Lord calls us far away.
